The Executive Council is composed of leaders from each of the Focus on
Mathematics partner organizations and is the decision-making body for all
partnership activities. The Executive Council meets bi-monthly to assess
progress towards the benchmarks, to discuss our alignment of assets with
needs, and to address unforeseen challenges as they arise.
Individual members and subcommittees of the Executive Council are
responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of FoM
programs, including the Master's Degree Program, online courses,
professional development offerings, student research projects, and the Math
Expo. In addition, Executive Council members will conduct curriculum and
intervention program reviews, and set and evaluate achievement targets
beginning in the second year.
The Executive Council is also charged with finding support for the Focus on
Mathematics programs to replace NSF funding. Members will locate funding
sources, make presentations to these sources, and write proposals. Members
will also write articles about the partnership for publication in journals
and newspapers.
Although commitments are now in place by the partners for sustaining the
partnership after NSF funding has ended, the Executive Council will
complete a detailed plan for acquiring the necessary additional support for
sustaining the partnership work by the end of year 4.
