General Calendar Help:
To view a specific calendar, click on the first dropdown
menu listed under “Jump to.”
- Each of the 5 school districts has a calendar that lists
the events that are only scheduled in that district. For example, Ken Levasseur’s
study group schedule for 2004 – 2005 is listed in the Lawrence calendar.
- The “FOM Calendar” lists district-wide and
public FOM events. These would include seminars, colloquia, and summer institutes.
- “All Calendars” lists the FOM partner events,
plus all 5 school districts, and the U.S. holidays.
“All Calendars” is the default view. When all of the calendars
are combined it gives you a quick and easy overview of everything that is
scheduled on that day, in that month, or in the year. Once you click on a
particular entry, the pop-up window identifies if the event is scheduled in
a school district calendar, or in the “FOM Calendar” on the very
first line of the heading where the “Calendar Name” is identified.
Pop-Ups:
Clicking on a link in the calendar will bring up a new window containing more information (location, contact person) about the event. If the window does not open, this could be due to a browser setting that blocks pop-ups on your computer.
To Subscribe to a Calendar: a special option for
MAC Users (ical)
If you have a Mac and would like to view the calendars using
ical, you may “subscribe” to as many calendars as you want.
Not only will subscribing allow you to view events in different colors by district,
but it will also periodically update them automatically. To
see all FoM events in ical, you must subscribe to every calendar with the exception
of the US Holiday schedule. You can not subscribe to "All Calendars" at one time.
To subscribe to a calendar:
- Select the specific calendar in the “jump to” drop down menu
- Click on “subscribe”
Once subscribed to a district calendar, the ical view opens
up. You may choose to continue subscribing to other calendars in order to view
them all. Successive calendars are labeled as “Subscribed,” Subscribed2,”
“Subscribed 3,” etc. If you double click on this, you can rename
each calendar, accordingly.
PC Users:
When you view “All Calendars” using your web
browser, all entries will be in black font. This is the same interface for Mac Users who choose not to subscribe to any calendar. Subscribing is only an option, not a necessity. In fact, there are some clear advantages to viewing all of the calendars simply from the website without subscribing to anything.
